Larry's Biography

Let me introduce myself. In 1976 I earned a B.S. degree in percussion performance from ISU and was also named the national winner of MTNA's Concerto Competition. Since then I've played vibes in the Larry Ford Trio. I make my living as a freelance percussionist and educator. I have been performing percussion for twenty-nine years. Thirteen of those years were with the Ft. Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra. On a weekly basis I teach 50 private lessons. I am currently an Artist in Residence at two Fine Arts schools, 1) Memorial Park Middle School and 2) Weisser Park Elementary School. My newest program is the Drumset Camp. This is a one week class in the summer that gives an overview of drum set playing. This is also my 20th year of performing educational children's shows in schools. And now with LarryFordMusic.com we are offering a wider range of quality programs for children.
